Content is King!

I have been speaking with many stressed out small business owners over the past week about what the new Facebook changes means for them. I want to really simplify this for you. Zuckerberg created Facebook with the purpose of connecting people with people. Connecting you with friends and family. He isn't out to ruin small businesses, but what Facebook is now asking of you, is, if you want to be seen in front of your audience, you are going to have to create good CONTENT! And yes, you will have to spend some money at some point as well, advertising has never been free. Like with everything, things change and businesses evolve. Change is always going to happen. As a business owner, big or small, you need to be able to pivot and roll with the changes. You either choose to look at this in a negative way, freak out with the rest of them, OR you can look inwards at your business... What value are you providing your followers? Is your content engaging and of interest to those that follow you? Have you created a trusting brand within your target audience? If not well then I am afraid your days were always going to be numbered. Great marketing and great business is about creating amazing content, without that, you can pay all the money in the world in advertising, if people don't like what you're offering then they're not going to pay for it.

I completely understand that change can be stressful, especially in the digital world because it changes all the time, sometimes daily! But remember, you are a business owner, you are already ballsy and driven, don't let this, which is out of your control get you so down that you feel hopeless and want to give up. There is always going to be good and with that comes bad as well, you cant have one without the other. So look at your content, do an internal audit of your own business, talk to your customers and/or following, ask them questions about what they do and don't like, and re-think some strategies if needs be. But don't give up, and don't give in. There will be many more changes like this that will hit your business, and you cant have a panic attack at every change, learn to adapt!

Have an amazing day!
